How hiring a freelance copywriter can save you money

I’m guessing that in order to get content written for your small business, you either use a member of staff who’s reasonably good at stringing a sentence together, or you do it yourself, am I right? And that’s understandable – hiring someone in to do these things costs money, and as a small business, you simply don’t have any cash to spare. But what if I told you that doing things this way could actually be costing you more?

Copywriters are actually cheaper than you think

Don’t believe me? Let’s look at some numbers.

Let’s say that you’re handing this writing stuff out to an administrator, who is on an average salary of £17,522. How long do you think an average, inexperienced writer would take to write a blog post? A few hours? Add into that some time to research, a few exchanges with you to go through ideas and edits, and you’re probably already racking up about half a day, if not more.

So what has that piece of writing cost you?

You’re probably looking at somewhere in the region of £36-£73. Just for the writing. And if you take into account the time taken away from that administrators normal duties, you can pretty much double that.

I bet that surprises you, doesn’t it?

And what if I told you that for someone like me to write the exact same blog post, you’d be looking in the region of £45-£75? That would not only include all the research, writing, and editing, but also I know a lot about how to write web-friendly, SEO content, as well as spelling, grammar, and tone of voice to suit your exact audience.

In other words, I’m not fitting the work in around my normal job, and I’m not taking time out from the duties you hired me for, as your administrator would be. This is my full time job. And I’m good at it.

What do you write, exactly?

This is a question I get asked a lot. What do I do, and how exactly could I help you?

No matter what kind of business you run, from a one-man show to a company with hundreds of employees, you will have some form of written content. That might be your website, a blog, a brochure, an advert or press release for a newspaper article, even your social media posts. That’s exactly the kind of thing that I write for businesses just like yours.
